Marco Reus To Arsenal In The Shock Transfer Of The Summer?

The last day of the transfer window does not fail to bring about intriguing development especially as it concerns Arsenal football club. The late day of last summer would always be inked in the calendar of most Arsenal faithful when Mesut Ozil joined the club for a club record fee.
Although, so far nothing of that nature is brewing for Arsenal in today’s deadline day, but that could change as from all indications the club would be able to move for Borussia Dortmund attacking midfielder Marcos Reus following the resigning of Shinji Kagawa for a knock down fee of £6 million from Manchester United on Sunday.
Marcos Reus was initially signed in 2012 as a replacement for the Japanese playmaker Shinji Kagawa, when he first left the bundesliga for Old Trafford, but following his resigning, this could pave the way for Marcos Reus to join Arsenal later today.
The 25 year old German international have been linked to several top clubs including Manchester United, Barcelona and Arsenal. But Arsenal are thought to be the closest to singing him since it was revealed in August that he was Arsene Wenger’s top priority signing for the summer, but as has widely been reported his ankle injury put paid to that deal.
Arsene Wenger it is believed sees Marcos Reus as having the attributes of a forward instead of the position he currently plays with Borussia Dortmund. According to reports, Arsene Wenger intends to use him as a striker just like Robin Van Persie and Thierry Henry were converted to strikers from the position of a winger they both started with.
There were also reports that he was in London earlier in the summer to discuss a move to Arsenal with Arsene Wenger.
Last Month, the Chief Executive of Borussia Dortmund Hans-Joachim Watzke had gave indications that he could still leave when he said that the club would do anything to keep him this summer, with a special take that the player is not interested in money.
Earlier in July, Sport Bild reported that his release clause was lower than the £35 million that was widely reported in the press. It was thought to be much lower in the region of £19 million, a point that Bayern Munich President Karl Hans Rummenigge alluded to.
For such sums, Arsenal could well move for the 25 year old, as they already have a replacement in place in Shinji Kagawa.
In hindsight, it would be up there as one of the biggest transfer of the summer, even bigger than Mesut Ozil if Arsenal can pull it off at the end of the day.
